Meet the girls behind our two special machines
Two of our diggers carry names that mean a lot to us. Named after Lottie and Florence, they’re helping us share the girls’ stories and support Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, following the care both have received.

Meet Lottie
Born in September 2025, Lottie has a congenital heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, alongside differences affecting her legs. At just seven months old, she underwent open-heart surgery at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, spending 19 days in hospital before coming home.
Her operation was successful, but she’ll need ongoing heart care and is expected to need further surgery. Specialists are also working with her family to decide the best treatment for her legs.
During her hospital care, Lottie’s family stayed at Crossbasket House twice. Having somewhere to rest and sleep close by made a real difference, allowing them to be there for her without the added worry of travelling back and forth.
Lottie is a happy, cheeky wee girl who has already been through so much. We’re proud to have named “The Lottie Machine” after her and help raise awareness of congenital heart conditions and limb differences.
Meet Florence
Florence was just three when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in January 2024. She went through more than two years of chemotherapy at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, completing her treatment in March 2026.
Finishing treatment was a huge milestone for Florence and her family. Wanting to give something back, they set themselves a £150,000 fundraising target for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, with the aim of covering the cost of her two years of treatment.
They’ve already raised £80,000 and are determined to keep going until they reach their goal. It’s a big undertaking, and we’re pleased to be helping them along the way.
Alongside naming a digger after Florence, we’ve made a donation in her name to support the family’s fundraising and the hospital that cared for her.
Out on site, sharing their stories
These two machines will be getting on with the day job while carrying Lottie and Florence’s names out onto sites across the country. We hope they’ll get people talking about the girls’ stories and the work of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
We will also be donating £1.00 per hour, on both machines, for every hour they work.
Thanks to both families for sharing their stories with us and letting us share them with you. We’re proud to have Lottie and Florence as part of the Blackwood fleet.
